| The Mayor is planning the town's parade... Forrest Then what happened? Mayor Yeah what happened? Librarian His unit was shipped one day too early, (Everyone looks extremely sad and disappointed.) Librarian Oh, he made it home ok. (Everyone looks relieved.) Librarian But, she married another fella while he was away. He was so angry when he came back that in the middle of the night one night he shot the cannon off right here in the middle of town. (Everyone looks towards the buildings before them.) Librarian (Nods at buildings) Yup, right through there. Cheerleaders (Starting another cheer) B-O- O- M BOOM BOOM, Boom Boom Boom Boom Go Cannon (Everyone claps.) Mayor This will be a great story to tell at the parade tomorrow. I wonder if the cannon can still fire? (Librarian nods) Mayor (Amazed) Really. This Parade is going to be GREAT. Cheerleaders G- R- E- A- T Great Great Great (All Exit.) (Ghosts enter. Their dialogue should be quick and sharp) Ghost 1 What a beautiful winter’s day. Ghost 2 Spring is just around the corner. Ghost 1 Seems the mayor may want to fire the cannon. Ghost 2 That would be a foolish thing to do. Ghost 1 It might hurt somebody. Ghost 2 It might blow up Ghost 1 Bang Ghost 2 Ow Ghost 1 Well, you wouldn't be hurt by it. Ghost 2 No, this is true Ghost 1 Do you remember the last time that thing went off? Ghost 2 All the smoke.
